Creating mayoral networks, enhancing city detection capacities, adopting early and sustained layered interventions, redesigning and repurposing cities, and shoring up pandemic preparedness are all key to accelerate global cooperation for current and future pandemics. Robert Muggah is a speaker, writer and social entrepreneur on issues of security, cities, climate adaptation and new technologies. He is co-founder of the Igarapé Institute – an award-winning think and do tank working on data-driven safety and justice. He is also co-founder of the SecDev Group – devoted to disrupting digital risk and strengthening cyber security. Robert has worked in over 50 countries with the UN, World Bank, governments, cities and businessess. The author of eight books – including Terra Incognita (out in 2020), he is a regular contributor to the Atlantic, BBC, CNN, Financial Times, Guardian, New York Times, and Wired and gave TED talks in 2014, 2017 and 2019.
