Performing Database Operations in the Cloudant Dashboard
Master performing database operations within the IBM Cloudant Dashboard. Learn to interact with your NoSQL database, manage data, and run queries directly from the dashboard for cloud-based applications.
At a Glance
In this guided project, you will launch IBM Cloudant to explore database-as-a-service (DBaaS) operations, perform simple operations like querying or copying data, and monitor activities on the dashboard.
In this guided project, you will launch the IBM Cloudant database and discover how to perform operations like inserting documents, querying data, and replicating databases (copying data from one database to another). From the IBM Cloudant dashboard, you will create a database. You will use an API key to run a database replication process. Then you will monitor a variety of active events like usage in real time.
Cloudant’s JSON document store simplifies development for analytics, text search, geospatial querying, and replication. Cloudant’s replication protocol is compatible with common libraries that exist in your browser or with Cloudant-provided libraries.
This guided project will give you a great start in managing DBaaS operations with the Cloudant NoSQL JSON database service.
A Look at the Project Ahead
Once you have completed this project, you’ll be able to:
- Create a database through the Cloudant dashboard
- Perform simple operations, such as inserting a document and querying data
- Replicate, or copy data, from one database to another
- Monitor your active tasks and your instance to detect potential issues
What You’ll Need
Just a web browser and an IBM Cloud account!
Everything else is provided to you on IBM Cloud, where you will have access to the Cloudant service through your browser.
