Ada: The Big Picture
Ada is an ultra-reliable and safe language used by the military and civilian agencies to operate hardware in aviation, exploration, and much more. This course will provide all the necessary context to begin an exciting career in programming with Ada.
What do software engineers do when the difference between correct and incorrect code could mean loss of critical hardware, massive property damage, or worse? For over 30 years, developers have used Ada to mitigate programming risk and write safe applications. In this course, Ada: The Big Picture, you will learn what Ada is, how it is used, and how it fits into the challenge of ultra-high-reliability programming. First, you will be introduced to the language of Ada. Next, you will learn about the design rationale behind many of Ada’s features. Then, you will spend a short time exploring how to author and compile Ada with a development environment and tools accessible to everyone. When you are finished with this course, you will have a better understanding of what it takes to write code with this exciting and reliable programming language.
