What is this course about?
You want to get to know the AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) better, but can’t really find your way through the overloaded documentation? You have already looked at other learning resources and do not really know if it makes sense for you as a beginner to work through 40 hours of a theoretical course. You wonder if there is someone out there who can break down the whole topic on point so that you get something out of it in the end? You might even want to prepare for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate Exam and the topic of networking is still weighing heavily on your mind?
Congrats, you have landed in the right place. I am Philipp from decent nodes, Cloud Engineer with several years of professional experience and AWS Solutions Architect Associate. My ambition is to explain all the important components of the AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to you in the shortest possible time so that you understand them well and can start using them practically right away. The goal of the course is to build a production-ready cloud-native AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) from scratch and to teach you the necessary theoretical and practical tools. The whole thing is specifically designed for beginners to intermediate levels.
In this course we try to look as clean as possible at the pure Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) service, only where it is really necessary, we briefly look into other AWS services.
The content consists of
- a complete set of slides
- hands-on video material
- several intermediate tests
- a large final test
We will talk about topics like the default AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), the non-default Virtual Private Cloud, CIDR blocks, different types of IP addresses, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) costs, routing in the Virtual Private Cloud, security in the VPC, monitoring in the VPC, bastion hosts, connecting multiple VPCs and much more.
At the end of the course, we will use a private EC2 instance to test whether we have designed and set up our architecture correctly. The EC2 instance in the private subnet should only have one-way access to the Internet. A second EC2 instance in the public subnet will serve as a bastion host so we can connect to the private instance.
If you want to learn everything important in a short time to be able to run a solid production Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) in the AWS Cloud. If you do not just need theoretical gobbledygook to learn, but someone who will show you all the essential components in detail in practice, then this is the place for you.
So sign up quickly, and I will see you in a sec. I am looking forward to seeing you.
What can’t the course do?
If you want to get deep into dynamic routing with BGP, if you want to build 3-way redundant on-prem/cloud connections or migrate 50 PB of data from your local data center to the cloud, this is not the right course for you. We focus here on the pure cloud side, staying cloud-native or pure cloud for now.
