Get a better understanding on how Ethernet operates and how to configure a Cisco switch. In this course, Ethernet Operation and Switch Configuration, you’ll learn some network interface layer protocols but focus your attention on Ethernet and Ethernet switching. First, you’ll learn the details of the types of cabling, fiber optics, and wireless technology used in data link layer protocols to move information. Then, you’ll examine a variety of data link layer protocols and where they are used. You’ll also look at the long history of Ethernet, and then examine the Ethernet frame header, the Ethernet Switch, and how a layer 2 broadcast message propagates through the network. Finally, you’ll see a detailed demonstration of a switch configuration as well as an examination of the behavior of hubs and switches in the same network, and what the MAC address table looks like on a series of switches connected together. By the end of this course, you’ll have an in-depth understanding of Ethernet and how to configure a Cisco switch.
