Exploring Space with NASA APIs in JavaScript
Discover how to use NASA APIs in JavaScript to explore space data and create interactive applications showcasing astronomical information.
NASA APIs provide programmatic access to the data in the public archives of NASA, such as the images captured by Mars Rovers and Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).
This course will help you explore space using NASA’s public data archives. You’ll be provided with a step-by-step guide on how to sign up for an account and retrieve the access keys. The Asteroid NeoWs API will help you retrieve data about near-earth asteroids. You’ll also use the EONET API to retrieve data regarding hazards and the EPIC API to retrieve colored images of the Earth. Next, you’ll pull surface photos of Mars using the Mars Rover Photo API and move on to pulling images and metadata for NASA’s photo of the day using the APOD API and media from NASA’s archives using the Image and Video Library API. You’ll finish by bundling astronomical data and photos into a fully functional React application.
By the end of this course, you’ll have a working knowledge of various NASA APIs and the ability to integrate them in a React application.
